Southern Ohio Diving :: Egypt 2008

Travel with SODA to the "Land of the Pharaohs". This dive trip will include 7 days on the Kawarty II live aboard dive boat out of Port Ghaleb which travels to the area called the "Deep South" or the Lower Eastern Coast of Egypt on the Red Sea. This area is the land less traveled, meaning the dive sites are pristine; including such sites as Elphinstone, the Brothers Islands, Daedalus reef down to St. Johns Island. This trip will be unlimited diving except in areas designated as no night dives (Brothers Islands). Nitrox is free for the week.

You will be arriving into Cairo and staying at the Sheraton Hotel for one night before flying to Port Ghaleb to pick up the dive boat. After diving, we will leave Port Ghaleb and take a four hour bus ride across the desert to Luxor and be enthralled by the Valley of the Kings and Queens spending two nights on the Upper Nile in the Nile Palace Meridien Hotel. Explore numerous fascinating tombs of Tutankhamon & Temple of Hatshepsut which are located in this area. You will experience the Sound and Light show at the Temple of Luxor showing the history of Luxor through a light show presentation. We will fly to Cairo and will be staying at the Mena House; all rooms will have Pyramid views.

Then experience the true Egyptian culture from a felucca boat ride on the Nile River. Take a trip through the National Museum and Sakara historical sites as well as a camel ride around the Pyramids. There will be time for shopping at the Khan El Khalili which dates back to before the time of Jesus. The final night will be a dinner aboard the Cleopatra boat with a Nile cruise through downtown Cairo. There will be many other notable sites to see on each tour day.
